According to Famitsu, Dragon Quest XI is proving to be incredibly popular with the Japanese market, reportedly selling over two million copies within two days of its initial release.

The latest instalment of the popular JRPG franchise has reportedly sold a total of 2,080,806 copies across its PlayStation 4 and Nintendo 3DS releases, with the majority of its sales being attributed to 3DS players. However, these figures only take into account physical sales as opposed to digital, so the total number will probably be much higher than this.

Dragon Quest has always been a popular game series, especially in Japan, where giant Dragon Quest statues were actually erected in honour of the game’s 30th anniversary.

Dragon Quest XI will reportedly be released in Western territories some time in 2018, though there’s currently no official release date for the title yet.
