Dragon Ball FighterZ Gets Goku Black Trailer, Open Beta Roster Announced

Dragon Ball

If this keeps up, we might have to rename the gaming portion of this site to something like “Dragon Ball FighterZ Fan Site And Jamboree”. I’m the gaming editor, I can make it happen.

Anyway, yesterday Bandai Namco released a new trailer giving us a better look at the Dragon Ball Super villain Goku Black, who looks way different to his goody-two shoes namesake. Just look at that giant pink scythe for starters. He also possesses a divekick that grinds the opponent into the floor, and his special moves call upon the evil Zamasu for an assist. He looks badass, just like every other character in this game.

This trailer comes just a few days before the open beta goes live for PS4 and Xbox One (sorry, PC players). The open beta will start on January 14th on 12:00 a.m. PT / 3:00 a.m. ET / 8:00 a.m GMT and will last until January 16th at the same time. Those who have pre-ordered the game will be able to play a day earlier, and the beta will include the following 11 characters:

  • Nappa
  • Vegeta
  • Goku
  • Piccolo
  • Krillin
  • Cell
  • Android 18
  • Frieza
  • Beerus
  • Kid Buu
  • Gohan (Adult)

It’s a different roster to the closed beta that went live back in September, which included Android 16 and Teen Gohan, but the additions of Beerus, Kid Buu and Gohan (Adult) more than make up for that. The beta should be a good chance for practice before the full game goes live on January 26th for PS4, Xbox One and PC. Check out the Goku Black trailer, and give us your thoughts in the comments.
