Deftones to Drop New Album on April 8th

Deftones

As if this week wasn’t already full to brim with big music announcements, one that’s barely an announcement – more a casual conversational drop really – but no less huge on the news front appears.

Yup, to further affirm the belief that this year is going to be a big one for music, particularly in relation to the big bands you lot love and comebacks, the news that Deftones new album will be released April 8th and followed by some touring and festival dates arrives.

In interview backstage at this year’s NAMM, co-founder and lead guitarist Stephen Carter quite unassumingly dropped the info when asked what was going with him musically;

‘Sitting around waiting for the release of our new record. Comes out April 8th.’

Well, that says it all really, and yet nothing at all. There appears to be no further information in regards to the album yet, aside from Carpenter’s comments, but he also references live dates in Texas this March and festival dates over Europe through May and June.

This will be the band’s first new album since 2012’s Koi No Yokan, and the first material they will have written and recorded since the death of bassist Chi Cheng back in 2013. Expect more details to follow, but in the meantime get excited, and check out the interview below.
