Dead Island 2 is one of the best looking games around, whether it’s basking in the Los Angeles sun or dwelling in the underground. However, the game doesn’t seem to have a conventional or at least day/night cycle like a lot of its peers and it isn’t exactly clear how to turn night into day, or vice versa. Luckily, all you have to do is make story progress.
To change time of day in Dead Island 2, you must first arrive at Venice Beach, which should take about ten hours or so of gameplay, depending on just how much you explore and how much additional content you complete. Once there, help the guys out who call to you from the roof, then you will be able to use the restaurant they’re in as a safehouse, after which Fast Travel Maps will unlock.
These Fast Travel Maps will now be unlocked at most of the safe spots you’ve visited across Hell-A and as you might have guessed, they will allow you to fast travel between them. However, you can also decide whether to fast travel there in the night or day, essentially letting you fast forward time and choose the time of day you want.
It’s a bit of an inelegant solution overall, as you will basically have to travel back again straight after if you want to stay in the same zone, but definitely one that will come in handy for those who can’t see where they’re going all that well. Dead Island 2 can almost be too bright and too dark at the same time, but it’s almost ALWAYS a looker.
Dead Island 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X & S.
