Dance Dance Revolution Movie In The Works, Because Why Not?

If you had asked me which games I would love to see turned into movies, Dance Dance Revolution would sit right next to Train Simulator and Bubsy at the bottom of my wishlist. But, whether you or I like it or not, it’s happening.

Deadline reports that Stampede have picked up the rights to produce a movie based on Dance Dance Revolution that will focus on the planet coming together through dance. No, really, that’s actually what they’re doing with their money.

“The project will explore a world on the brink of destruction where the only hope is to unite through the universal language of dance.”

So will they be dancing to defeat a great evil, like Cthulhu or something? Or will the power of the 1, 2 Step stop earthquakes and other natural disasters? Perhaps the main character popping off a Cha Cha Slide will convince dystopian overlords to not be quite so mean?

People have already noted that it sounds similar to The FP, so we’ll have to see how it pans out. Who will the main character be? Will the villain be a sentient dancepad who, after years of his face being stamped on, rise up against mankind with bloody vengeance? Who knows, and better yet: who asked for this?

In other news, The Last of Us still has no movie adaptation.
