It’s been a long time coming, but Cyberpunk 2077’s first (and final) expansion, Phantom Liberty, is finally here, almost three years after the launch of the original game. In Phantom Liberty, V finds themselves embroiled in a conspiracy in Dogtown after the president’s plane is shut down, but how exactly can you get in on the action for yourself if you’re diving back into the DLC?
Well, the most obvious thing you need to do first is buy the DLC itself. Phantom Liberty is available to buy digitially for $29.99/£24.99 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series (no previous gen), or can be purchased as part of a bundle alongside the base game for a bit of a discount. You may want to buy the base game physically if you’re on console to save yourself a bit of money overall, as it’s a good bit cheaper, or you can currently pick it up with a PlayStation Plus Premium subscription. Phantom Liberty isn’t part of any subscription service at last.
Once you’ve purchased Phantom Liberty, you have multiple ways of accessing it.
If you already have a Cyberpunk 2077 save, you will be able to start playing Phantom Liberty as long as you have completed the Transmission quest, a Voodoo Boys-centric quest that’s important for some of Phantom Liberty’s story. You should get a call from Songbird, who will then direct you to Dogtown to begin a new quest.

It took a little while for us to get a call from her, as we had so many other calls and texts from not playing for a while.
If you want to start a completely fresh game just for Phantom Liberty, you’re welcome to do just that. You can either start a new save and work your way towards the DLC, or skip ahead in the story until you’re level 20 and are given cyberware and attributes. You can reset your attributes once you’re in the game.
There’s plenty of choice when it comes to experiencing one of the most important expansion packs in CD Projekt Red’s history. How will you go about your duty?
