They Changed Cuno’s Voice In Disco Elysium: The Final Cut And I’m Very Sad

Cuno doesn't care. But maybe he should.

Disco Elysium has a cast of characters that run the gamut from charming to plain rude to Kim Kitsuragi, the best human being ever created. One character that stands out above many, though, is Cuno, the foul-mouthed teenager who is more antagonistic than most villains in video games, but we still love him. Well, love through living in fear of him, at least.

One of his most iconic traits, along with basically being rage incarnate, is his feral voicework, which would no doubt make Daily Mail readers twitch their curtains if they ever heard it being bellowed down the street. However, as of The Final Cut, the updated version of the game with full voice acting, his voice actor, Dot Major, seems to have changed or he may have been asked to tone it down, arguably not for the better.

Check out a comparison video below.

The new voice isn’t bad at all, and you could say that it’s more consistent and less abrasive without the peaky audio levels from his old voice actor properly leathering every syllable. But that’s just what Cuno is about, that mad Scouse energy that sends shivers down the spine.

This new Cuno is certainly more restrained than the ruiner of headsets worldwide, which was probably the point. It’s much easier to listen to him talk for periods of a time, so perhaps with so much more voice acting, Studio ZA/UM wanted something that wouldn’t hurt the ears for so long in The Final Cut.

I will miss old Cuno regardless, the maniacal offspring of Jamie Carragher at his spittiest. Rest easy, you wild stallion.
