Crash Team Racing May Be At The Game Awards

This has significantly ooga'd our booga.

Crash Team Racing

You have to love video game marketing. No other medium can get away with the nonsense that we see so regularly — I was sent a potato for a game release once. This newest stunt, which has seen influencers receiving giant orange dice, could be teasing what anyone with fond memories of the original PlayStation is no doubt pining for: Crash Team Racing.

The first clue was sent to Hollie Bennett over at PlayStation Access in the form of a large pair of orange dice with the tagline “sliding into the Game Awards 6/12” on a piece of card.

This may not immediately make sense or be an obvious giveaway, but those with good memories will remember this suitably bonkers CTR commercial in which Crash asks for orange dice. Also, “sliding” — a lot of the racing in CTR revolves around sliding around corners.

Further fuel is added to the fire when you compare it to the lead-up to the Spyro remake reveal. It looks like the same marketing company worked on this one.

One final clue comes from this reply from Brett Phipps (who some of you may remember from the peak years of Videogamer), who is currently working with Activision: the company that owns the rights to Crash Bandicoot and published N. Sane Trilogy as well as Spyro Reignited Trilogy.

A remake of Crash Team Racing would simply make a lot of sense, so I guess we will just to wait and see when The Game Awards starts on December 6th.
