Concrete Genie Revealed For PS4, Looks Bloody Lovely

Concrete Genie

PlayStation weren’t afraid to announce a metric ton of games during their Paris Games Week conference, but one that perhaps has captured the hearts of gamers around the world is Concrete Genie, which is being developed by Pixelopus. Did I mention it looks bloody lovely? Because it looks bloody lovely.

One of the longer videos from today’s show, the reveal trailer introduced us to Ash, which is an awesome name. No, I’m not biased. Ash is a bullied teenager looking to escape his problems by- fuck, this is getting too real.

Childhood trauma aside, Ash is a resident of the town of Denska, and he is able to utilise a magical paint to create creatures and worlds on the sides of the town buildings, and in doing so, it helps purify Denska’s polluted walls. Of course, the bullies are all too quick to steal Ash’s magical paintbrush and demand his lunch money, so you’ll spend the game avoiding them whilst trying to restore your hometown.

The art direction showcased during this trailer is phenomenal, as the vibrancy of Ash’s paintings is offset by the dreary, smog filled landscape of Denska. It’s going to be interested to see how Ash’s actions in this world affect the way the world is presented during the game. Will Denska resemble the colourful painting that adorn the walls by the end of the game?

Whatever the answer is, this 3 minute trailer for Concrete Genie has made me genuinely intrigued about the game, and I personally can’t wait to see more. No details have been revealed regarding a release date, meaning it’s likely to drop towards the latter half of next year at least. I’d be shocked if it released any sooner.
