Focus Features just released the official trailer for Let Him Go, starring Diane Lane and Kevin Costner (aka Clark Kent’s parents) as Margaret and George Blackledge. Their son’s widow remarried a Weboy, which means that their grandson is now in the clutches of a dangerous family.

The two leave their Montana ranch and make the trip to somewhere in the Dakotas, where the Weboys are living off the grid, with the hopes of getting him back. Costner’s George is a retired sheriff, so he isn’t a pushover, but this is a whole family facing off against two individuals. The tension in the trailer is enough to give one heart palpitations. Also, Diane Lane’s Margaret actually gets a full-faced slap, so these Weboys do not play around.

The film is adapted from Larry Watson’s novel of the same name, and is directed and written by Thomas Bezucha. Bezucha previously directed the films The Family Stone and Monte Carlo, so this film marks a bit of a change for the filmmaker, since it is more thriller than his usual rom-com territory.

Let Him Go is slated to release in November this year, and according to IMDb it’s the 6th of November, though the trailer itself doesn’t specify a date, so this might be subject to change.
