Chris Evans in Talks for Key Role in Little Shop of Horrors Remake

We are a far cry from his Captain America days.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Chris Evans is in talks for the role of dentist Orin Scrivello in the Little Shop of Horrors remake.

Fans of the Broadway musical will know that he is the sadistic boyfriend of Audrey, who enjoys inflicting pain on his patients (it’s characters like this that have contributed to my fear of the dentist). He has a penchant for laughing gas, and performs the iconic song “Dentist!”. The role was made famous by Steve Martin in the 1986 film adaptation of the musical.

Warner Bros. has been shopping around for actors to star in this project. Taron Egerton is in negotiations to play the role of Seymour, while Scarlett Johansson is being courted for the role of Audrey. Billy Porter, a well-known name in the world of musical theatre, is the only confirmed member of the cast. He will play Audrey II, the carnivorous Venus Flytrap that starts demanding a human food source.

Now that Chris Evans has completed his Captain America arc in the MCU, we see him seeking out roles that are vastly different from his well-known heroic persona. For example, his character in 2019’s Knives Out is far from the good guy Steve Rogers was.

His next project is Defending Jacob, a limited series drama that he also produced, which is set to debut in April on Apple+.
