Today, CD Projekt Red have announced that they’ve been the victims of a high profile cyber attack that threatens to leak a host of confidential information and source code for both The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077.

Wait, CDPR Has Been Compromised?

Yes, the developers announced on Twitter earlier today that yesterday, their internal servers were the “victim of a targeted cyber attack”, with the instigator making out with “certain data”. The files that were stolen have been backed up, but CDPR can’t stop the person responsible from leaking or selling their information.

CDPR do state that personal details weren’t part of the stolen information, and to their credit, CD Projekt Red have also mentioned that they refuse to negotiate or comply with the hacker’s demands.

What Was In The Ransom Note?

The note left by the hacker was shared on Twitter alongside the announcement from CDPR. In the note, they say that they’ve dumped source code for The Witcher 3, Gwent, Cyberpunk 2077 and an unreleased version of The Witcher 3. There’s also documents relating to accounting, administration, legal, HR, investor relations and more.
