Bunny Girl Senpai is finally getting a new sequel. Not in the form of Bunny Girl Senpai: Season 2, but a new movie. It’s not going to be officially called Bunny Girl Senpai: Movie 2, though, as The Rascal Does Not Dream Of series changes its title for every entry. This is similar to how the Bakemonogatari series deals with its titling. Season 1 is called Rascal Does Not Dream Of Bunny Girl Senpai, the 2019 movie is Rascal Does Not Dream Of A Dreaming Girl, and Movie 2 is officially called Rascal Does Not Dream Of A Sister Venturing Out.

Ready to see where Sakuta and the rest of the cast’s Adolescence Syndrome goes from here? Here’s all you need to know about the second Bunny Girl Senpai movie, and why we won’t be getting Season 2.

When Is Bunny Girl Senpai: Season 2 Being Released?

As mentioned above, there’s a movie coming out, but no Bunny Girl Senpai: Season 2. Movie 2 will air on June 23, 2023. A couple of trailers have already come out, and they all confirm this date.

That’s not all; a third movie called Rascal Does Not Dream Of A Knapsack Kid is also incoming. However, this one doesn’t have a release date yet.

What Could Bunny Girl Senpai: Season 2 Be About?

After the two upcoming movies, maybe they’ll release Bunny Girl Senpai: Season 2, or maybe more movies. Until people know for sure, it’s hard to tell what Season 2 will be about. Here’s what Movie 2 is about though.

The Rascal Does Not Dream Of/Bunny Girl series is based on light novels. There was an attempt to make a manga adaptation, but it didn’t sell too well. The Dreaming Girl movie covered Volumes 6-7 of the light novels. Bunny Girl Senpai: Movie 2 will cover only Volume 8, which shares the title of A Sister Venturing Out.

Season 1 was focused on Mai and Sakuta’s initial meeting and how their relationship started. The movies are essentially the story arcs of the supporting characters, with the first movie being about Shouko. Movie 2 will revolve around Sakuta’s little sister, Kaede, who will finally try breaking out of her shell.

As you all know, Kaede’s Adolescence Syndrome caused her to develop amnesia after being bullied. The second movie shows her regaining the courage to go back to school, Sakuta’s high school, to be specific. Now Sakuta and the rest of his friends must do their best to ease Kaede’s transition into society.

The next movie, Rascal Does Not Dream Of A Knapsack Kid, will cover Volume 9, which also shares its title.

Which Studio Could Make Bunny Girl Senpai: Season 2?

There are some major shake-ups with the production teams for Bunny Girl Senpai: Movie 2. Aniplex, Tokyo MX, Hakuhodo DY Music & Pictures, Nagoya Broadcasting Network, BS11, ABC Animation, and Kadokawa all co-produced Season 1 and Movie 1. However, only Aniplex and Kadokawa are confirmed for Movie 2. Now, whether or not the other companies truly backed out or simply haven’t been revealed yet remains to be seen.

As for the animation though, CloverWorks is still the studio of choice for Movie 2.

Where To Watch Bunny Girl Senpai

You can catch Bunny Girl Senpai: Season 1 on Crunchyroll, Funimation, Netflix, and Shahid.

Unfortunately, it’s pretty hard to get your hands on the Dreaming Girl movie. It currently isn’t on any streaming platform in America. Your best bet is simply buying a physical copy on DVD or Blu-ray. It’s available on Netflix in South Korea though, so if you have a VPN with servers there, you can use that.

This past doesn’t bode well for Bunny Girl Senpai: Movie 2. The first movie did run in theaters in America, but only for a short time and in select theaters. Hopefully, Movie 2 will be more accessible after the theatrical release.
