Bray Wyatt’s 5 Best WWE Matches

Let him in.

The Fiend

There are few people in the WWE right now with the same impact as Bray Wyatt. Since returning with the Firefly Fun House and The Fiend, Bray has become one of their must-see superstars. Even the hint of his presence has live crowds waiting with bated breath for him to appear.

But Bray’s recent success is not his only success.

From the Wyatt Family to the Deleters of Worlds, he has been part of some of the biggest matches and angles in recent years. What are his best matches so far? And do any of them involve Husky Harris? Spoiler alert. They don’t.

5. Bray “The Fiend” Wyatt vs. Finn Balor – SummerSlam 2019

Despite attacking several legends and current superstars, The Fiend has only been involved in one televised match since the reboot of Wyatt’s character.

SummerSlam 2019 gave fans their first look at The Fiend in the ring. He still uses a lot of the same moves as before but with more aggressive flourishes. “Breaking” Finn’s neck would not be particularly effective but it was a hell of a visual that garnered audible gasps from the audience.

More than that, fans got to see hints of Wyatt’s internal conflict. At many points during the match, he was at odds with The Fiend in their attack on Balor. This was a beautiful touch that can only lead to more great storytelling.

This angle also set Balor up nicely for a return match once he’s back from his current hiatus. Pitting The Demon against The Fiend at WrestleMania is a pure shut up and take my money moment. And if they can work the Universal Championship in there? Pure gold.

4. Bray Wyatt vs John Cena vs AJ Styles vs Dean Ambrose vs The Miz vs Baron Corbin – Elimination Chamber 2017

Six competitors enter a massive steel structure. While two of them start the match, the other four are each sequestered in their own pods and released one at a time throughout the match. Each competitor is eliminated via pinfall or submission until one wrestler is left standing.

That’s an Elimination Chamber match.

These matches are either really good or really bad, with no real middle ground. It depends a lot on who is involved. In 2017, it was Dean Ambrose, John Cena, AJ Styles, Baron Corbin, The Miz and Bray Wyatt. The match opened with Cena and Styles in the ring, with Wyatt’s pod opening second after Ambrose. The biggest moment of the match came when Wyatt busted out of the Attitude Adjustment, hit Cena with Sister Abigail, and eliminated him from the match. This guaranteed that a new champion would be crowned that night.

John Cena walked into the Elimination Chamber with the WWE Championship around his waist but left without it. Ultimately, Bray Wyatt walked out with it. To date, it’s his only singles title during his entire WWE run.

3. The Wyatt Family vs. The Shield – Raw (March 3rd, 2014)

Without mincing words, this was a pay-per-view calibre match. Two of the biggest factions in the history of the WWE faced off in a fight for the ages. Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan were on one side with Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins on the other.

All six men worked together to tell one hell of a story. One of the things that made this match unique was that both groups were heel factions. That’s not something that happens often but it worked and it was definitely a high point for Bray Wyatt and his family.

2. Bray Wyatt vs. John Cena – WWE Payback 2014

An underrated conclusion to an underrated feud, this Last Man Standing Match deserves a lot more respect than some fans want to give it.

Part of the issue with this match being remembered for its quality is that fans love to hate on John Cena. That being said, it was a beast of a fight. Cena gave as good as he got and eventually won the match, ending their feud.

There was a classic creepy Wyatt moment where he picked up a dazed Cena and danced him around the ring. Once the toys came out, business really picked up. They beat each other with chairs. Wyatt put Cena through a table. Later in the match, Wyatt took one of the biggest spots of the night when Cena hurled the stairs at him from inside the ring.

Frankly, it would have been better for Wyatt’s development if he had won. Regardless, this match stands out.

1. Bray Wyatt vs. Daniel Bryan – Royal Rumble 2014

This was the opening match for the Royal Rumble event that year and it was a barn burner. Daniel Bryan was the biggest name in the company and Bray Wyatt was one of the hottest heels. This match cemented that.

It ended up being the best match of Wyatt’s career to date, a testament to what happens when you put two wrestlers as talented as Wyatt and Bryan together in a ring. Wyatt walked away with the victory to essentially finish their feud and set up what would be an incredible 2014 for him.

While he wouldn’t win a major title for another three years, this was still a high watermark for his career.
