Borat 2 Teaser Released After Presidential Debate

Movie releases are all about timing, and Sacha Baron Cohen couldn't have chosen a better time for Borat 2.

A teaser of Borat 2, the sequel to Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, has just been released on Twitter, from an account labelled the official Twitter account for the Government of Kazakhstan (definitely legit).

It is in response to the presidential debate, with President Trump being congratulated for his debate win. The teaser spends its 35 seconds mocking President Trump, calling him a war hero as well as stating how respectful he is in his interactions with women, but of course meaning the inverse. There’s even a mention of Presidential candidate Joe Biden, claiming that he only wears a mask because he has bad breath.

Borat 2 will hit Amazon Prime this October, just in time for the election. This release date, as well as this teaser after the presidential debate, is no coincidence. Sacha Baron Cohen has been extremely vocal about his disdain for the Trump administration. His 2018 Showtime show Who Is America? famously skewered Trump’s supporters, and he was even spotted at a Trump rally leading the crowd in a racist sing-a-long, wearing the shirt he wears as his character Abbie Hoffman in Aaron Sorkin’s The Trial of the Chicago 7.

Is the election the main reason why Baron Cohen is resurrecting Borat? Only time will tell as more details on this mystery project is revealed to us.
