Blue Spring Ride: Season 2 – Will It Happen?

Blue Spring Ride
Blue Spring Ride

Reuniting with your first love should simplify matters. Futaba Yoshioka instead discovers that Kou Mabuchi has changed his name, personality and general willingness to explain himself.

Also known as Ao Haru Ride, Blue Spring Ride builds towards Futaba and Kou finally confronting their shared feelings, only to stop well before Io Sakisaka’s manga finishes complicating them.

When Is Blue Spring Ride: Season 2 Coming Out?

Sadly, Blue Spring Ride: Season 2 has not been officially announced and has no confirmed release date as of October 2026.

The first and most recent television season ended on 23 September 2014 after 12 episodes. Two manga-bundled OVAs were also produced: Page.0, which explores Futaba and Kou’s earlier relationship, and Page.13, a direct post-finale continuation released on 12 December 2014. Neither constitutes a second season or split cour.

The official anime website and its news archive remain devoted to the 2014 production, with no sequel announcement from Production I.G or the production committee.

Later live-action films and television dramas are separate adaptations, not anime continuations. With more than twelve years passing since Page.13, predicting a return would require more confidence than the available evidence deserves. The anime has not been formally cancelled, but it is inactive.

What Could Blue Spring Ride: Season 2 Be About?

While nothing is confirmed, Season 2 could introduce Touma Kikuchi and place further strain on Futaba and Kou’s tentative progress.

The first season and Page.13 leave Futaba determined to reach Kou, but understanding his grief does not automatically make him willing to accept help. A continuation could explore how his connection to someone from his past keeps him emotionally withdrawn, even as Futaba tries to move their relationship forward.

Touma would complicate matters by taking a direct interest in Futaba. Unlike Kou, he is comparatively open about what he wants, creating a genuine romantic choice rather than another misunderstanding that could be cleared up by five sensible minutes.

VIZ’s Volume 5 description highlights Kou inviting Futaba to the summer festival before Touma begins pursuing her. Later material also gives Futaba’s friends their own relationship developments, allowing a sequel to remain an ensemble drama rather than spending every episode waiting for Kou to finish a sentence.

Where Can You Watch Blue Spring Ride?

The anime currently has no legal streaming or digital-purchase option in the UK. The UK JustWatch listing reports it unavailable as of October 2026.

In the US, the 12 television episodes are available through Rakuten Viki, including an advert-supported option. US availability.

Can You Read The Manga While You Wait?

Yes. VIZ publishes the complete manga in English across 13 volumes, in paperback and digital editions.

Volume 5 is a practical continuation point after the anime and Page.13, although starting from Volume 1 preserves omitted and rearranged material. VIZ’s official series catalogue identifies Volume 13 as the finale; its English edition was released on 6 October 2020.

Most importantly, it supplies an ending without requiring Kou to communicate with an animation committee.
