Wotakoi: Season 2 – Will It Happen?

Office romance is difficult enough without worrying that your colleagues might discover how seriously you take games, cosplay or boys’ love manga. Wotakoi: Love Is Hard for Otaku, also known as Wotaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii, sensibly concludes that dating another obsessive is easier. But it does not conclude that either person will become any better at relationships.

Fujita’s romantic comedy follows Narumi Momose and Hirotaka Nifuji alongside fellow office workers Hanako Koyanagi and Tarou Kabakura. The anime remains popular, but has that produced any actual movement on Wotakoi: Season 2?

When Is Wotakoi: Season 2 Coming Out?

Sadly, Wotakoi: Season 2 has not been officially announced and has no confirmed release date as of September 2026.

The first and most recent television season ended on 22 June 2018 after 11 episodes. Fuji Television’s programme page confirms that the broadcast concluded in June 2018, while the official anime story page lists eleven television episodes.

It will be ten years since it wrapped up soon, so we wouldn’t expect a Season 2 at all.

Three later OVAs adapted additional manga material, but they do not constitute a second season. The first accompanied Japanese manga Volume 7 in 2019, while two further episodes followed with Volumes 10 and 11 in 2021. The final OVA was released on 14 October 2021, making it the most recent animated instalment.

The official anime website still focuses on the original series and its associated releases. We could not find a sequel announcement from the production committee, A-1 Pictures or another official source. Reports assigning Season 2 a release year are therefore completely inaccurate.

What Could Wotakoi: Season 2 Be About?

While nothing is confirmed, another season could continue the relationships of all three central couples using material the television series never adapted.

Narumi and Hirotaka would still have to work out how romance fits around their hobbies and rather different ways of communicating. Meanwhile, Hanako and Kabakura face questions about where their long, argumentative relationship is actually heading. They are very good at bickering and somewhat slower at discussing anything useful.

Naoya and Kou would also have a larger role. Later manga volumes develop their tentative friendship as Naoya tries to understand Kou’s anxiety and his own feelings towards her. Kodansha’s Volume 5 description specifically highlights the distance created by Kou’s efforts to grow more independent.

Because the OVAs select stories from different points in the manga, a second season would need to account for material already animated rather than simply resuming at one clean chapter.

Where Can You Watch Wotakoi?

Wotakoi currently has no verified streaming or digital-purchase option in either the UK or US.

The current UK listing and US listing both report that the series is unavailable domestically. It previously streamed through Amazon Prime Video, so older viewing guides are now out of date.

Can You Read The Manga While You Wait?

Yes. Kodansha publishes the complete manga in English across six print and digital editions. These collect all eleven original Japanese volumes, with the first five English books containing two volumes apiece and the shorter sixth book collecting the finale.

The official Kodansha series page lists the series as complete and offers all six volumes. A complete English box set is also available.

Starting from Volume 1 is advisable because the anime rearranges and omits material. It also removes the need to wait for two fictional office workers to receive an adaptation renewal before they can finish a conversation.
