Blue Period: Season 2 – What You Should Know

Blue Period: Season 2
Blue Period: Season 2

No other anime portrays the struggles of an aspiring artist better than Blue Period. Written by Tsubasa Yamaguchi, the story follows Yatora Yaguchi, a student who finally found his passion by pursuing art. Its anime adaptation started airing in September 2021 and finished its run in December of the same year. It’s been almost a year since Season 1 ended, so fans wonder when Blue Period: Season 2 will be released.

When Is Blue Period: Season 2 Coming Out?

Unfortunately, there’s still no confirmed release date for Blue Period: Season 2, so it’s unclear if there’ll be a Season 2 since there’s no news about a renewal. Despite this, you shouldn’t lose hope of Blue Period eventually getting a sequel in the future.

The Blue Period manga has reached over 4.5 million copies in circulation. With its popularity, there’s a chance that it might get a second season down the line. However, it probably won’t be released this year, so we can expect 2023 at the absolute earliest for Season 2 to come out.

What Is Blue Period: Season 2 About? (Spoiler Alert)

If they decide to make Blue Period: Season 2, then it’ll cover the First Year University Arc. Assuming it picks up where it left off, Season 2 will start from Volume 7, Chapter 26 of the manga. Furthermore, if it follows Season 1, where they animate 25 chapters, then Season 2 will reach Saeki’s Drawing Class Mini Arc and the Second Year University Arc.

With Yaguchi successfully getting into Tokyo University of the Arts, new challenges await our protagonist in the next season. Since he’s surrounded by the best art students in Japan, Yaguchi will have to prove his skills despite his inexperience. Moreover, Yaguchi and his rival, Yotasuke, will deepen their friendship in the following season.

Which Studio Is Making Blue Period: Season 2

The first season was animated by Seven Arcs, so there’s a high chance they’ll also animate Season 2. Seven Arcs is also known for animating other anime, such as Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, Fly Me to the Moon, and Trinity Seven. However, despite animating Season 1, a change in Blue Period’s animation studio isn’t off the table.

Some fans argued that the anime was lackluster compared to the manga. They said that the anime was rushed and didn’t capture the depth of its source material. Still, despite the subpar animation, many people found the anime highly motivational and relatable to their struggles, so they still recommend watching the anime or reading the manga.

Where Will Blue Period: Season 2 Be Aired?

Like its previous season, Blue Period: Season 2 will most likely be released on Netflix. Unlike other anime, which can be streamed on multiple streaming services, Netflix is the only streaming service to air Blue Period internationally. For the people in Japan, Season 2 will also air on the Super Animeism Block on MBS, TBS, and other channels, if it’s the same with Season 1.
