Big Show Signs Long-Term Contract With AEW

He will provide commentary for AEW's new YouTube show.

Wrestling legend, Paul Wight (a.k.a WWE’s Big Show) has just been confirmed as AEW’s latest signing. The 7ft tall giant joins fellow former WWE stars: Chris Jericho, Jon Moxley and PAC in providing wrestling fans with something fresh and exciting as part of the All Elite roster.

What is Paul Wight bringing to AEW?

Wight’s first order of business will be to provide commentary as part of AEW’s brand-new YouTube show, AEW Dark: Elevation. This will be the third AEW product to be broadcast on a weekly basis, streaming live on Monday nights from AEW’s YouTube channel.

The show will put the spotlight on the fastest rising stars inside and outside of AEW, while also allowing the more established members of the AEW roster to wrack up some wins for their annual record.

Having a veteran like Paul Wight on the commentary team is going to be nothing short of entertaining, the big guy can do more than hold his own on the microphone, so hearing him provide play-by-play along with his insight to what’s going down in the squared circle will be worth tuning in for.

Will Paul Wight compete in AEW?

There’s currently no word as to whether Paul Wight has been signed to an in-ring contract. Last we saw of Paul Wight as an active competitor was the RAW following WrestleMania 36, where he competed in a WWE Championship match against Drew McIntyre. Prior to that, Big Show was competing in a renewed prime, killing it in matches against fellow giant, Braun Strowman.

There’s no reason to believe that Paul Wight wouldn’t be able to step into an AEW ring sometime over the next year, especially with Tony Khan having faith in ‘The Icon’ Sting and featuring him in a marquee pay-per-view match, albeit cinematic. Furthermore, Khan himself has implied that Wight’s position on the commentary table will also be used for him to study the AEW roster and prepare himself for a future in-ring return.

Paul Wight would be an incredible addition to the active roster, acting as a mentor to other larger wrestlers who are looking to master their craft.

More details relating to Paul Wight’s signing and AEW Dark: Elevation are set to be revealed on tonight’s episode of Dynamite, watch this space for more AEW news.
