Best PS4 Game Deals From PlayStation Store’s January Sale

Friday the 13th game

Another year, another set of deals on PlayStation Store that flatter to deceive. With the coming of the January Sale, you would expect plenty of amazing discounts on PS4 games, but that’s not really the case here – plenty of the games on offer have been far cheaper on the Store before.

Still, there are some quality deals in the January Sale – you just have to kind of look for them. Be warned that they aren’t all AAA, however – nobody in their right mind should be paying that much for a version of NBA 2K18, no matter how much paid progression it gives.

Here are some of the best deals I could find. The prices you find below are all in sterling; regional differences may apply.

Sheltered – £3.29

If you’re a fan of Fallout and unending misery, Sheltered might be the game for you. It’s all about the struggles of a family to survive in the post-apocalypse and is packed with interesting ideas, but is by no means perfect. At this price, though, it’s worth sending your children outside and cackling as they die horrible deaths.

Stardew Valley – £7.39

This is a great deal not only because you will be getting a discount on one of the most relaxing games ever, but you will also be saving money as you watch your social obligations just wash away. I managed to escape my addiction, but I don’t know if you will be quite so lucky with this charming farming sim.

Overcooked – £4.49

Overcooked

Do you have some friends that you like to play games with? Overcooked, the frantic team-based cooking game, could the be the perfect match for you. Or it could provide the breaking point that means you and your friends never speak to each other ever again. One or the other.

Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture – £5.79

The walkiest of all walking simulators might not provide much in the way of gameplay, but it certainly has some interesting stories to tell – doesn’t hurt that it’s pretty gorgeous, too. As an added bonus for any of you trophy hunters, it has a pretty straightforward Platinum trophy.

Nex Machina – £7.99

If more people had bought Nex Machina, Housemarque’s bloody brilliant shooter from 2017, then maybe the studio wouldn’t have had to shift its focus away from arcade games. Show them the error of their ways and buy this gem at least a million times.

Sundered – £7.99

Another supremely overlooked game from last year, Thunder Lotus’ Sundered, their first game since Jotun, is a challenging but rewarding metroidvania that will appeal to any who likes their side-scrollers to be on the dark side. I mean, you can turn into a weird bat thing and glide across rooms – what’s not to like?

Pyre – £7.89 (for PS Plus subscribers)

Pyre game

Yet another underrated gem from 2017, Pyre is a game that’s very hard to pigeonhole into one genre. Sometimes it’s a sports game, other times (a bit of) an RPG, and at others it’s a visual novel. All of this really shouldn’t work, but it does. Plus, Rukey is the best.

Metro Redux – £6.19

metro redux

Two great FPS games for about the same as a proper lunch at Greggs. Yeah, okay, it’s been cheaper before, but if you’re wondering what all the Exodus fuss is about, it’s not a bad price to pay.

Bloodborne – £11.99

Bloodborne Hunter

It says a lot about Bloodborne’s quality that it’s this many years later and it’s only now nearing a £10 digital price. You almost definitely know what kind of game it is already, so if you are yet to try Bloodborne and are a glutton for punishment, this price is perfect.

Dark Souls 3 – £15.99

As above, but a bit slower.

Outlast 2 – £11.99

Outlast 2

A pretty polarising horror game from last year, but I totally loved it and I have the only opinion that counts. If you’re sick of feeling like you’re happy, try Red Barrels’ uncompromising chaseathon. Quick tip: don’t play it if you’re religious.

Friday the 13th: The Game – £11.34 (for PS Plus subscribers)

Source: Den of Geek

Probably the best deal out of them all in the January Sale, 2017’s biggest horror game gets taken down to a juicy price. Friday the 13th is far better with friends than randoms, so be sure to convince your friends to download it as well and get slashing and clipping through the environment to your heart’s content.

Just Cause 3 – £8.99

Just Cause 3

Just in case you missed it as a “free” PlayStation Plus game, Just Cause 3 is a worthwhile buy at this price. It has a multitude of performance issues, but you’re going to struggle to find another game that fulfills your most violent cow fantasies elsewhere.

Other Notable Deals

Watch Dogs 2 (£14.99) – Still kinda pricey, but not bad.
Nioh (£16.49) – Find it much cheaper if you go retail.
Rainbow Six Siege (£15.99) – Total life-consumer.
Superhot (£9.99) – Guess the two words I want to type so bad right now.
Resident Evil 7 (£14.99) – Easily one of the best prices I’ve seen since launch.
