When you think of actors that are capable of portraying bone chilling characters, Benicio del Toro should be at the top of your list. Although he has played both the villain and the hero in previous roles, the smart money would be on him to be the former when he stars in Star Wars: Episode VIII.

Confirming it in the offhand manner that Del Toro is known for in a Spanish magazine, he told Rac1: “Star Wars is coming up, so we’ll see how that turns out. I think we start shooting in March. I’m like the villain, but we’ll see…”

Having previously been a bit of a baddie in Guardians of the Galaxy as The Collector, who looks like he could be a major player in the MCU soon, Del Toro already has his acting in space chops. If you’re having trouble placing him, he’s also been in the likes of Sin City, Traffic and The Usual Suspects.

Episode VIII will be directed by Rhian Johnson of Brick and Looper fame, and that’s pretty much all we know about the entire film. Presumably the main cast from The Force Awakens will return and that they will keep teasing trailers until May 6, 2017 when it’s released.

Speaking of the project, Johnson said in an interview with Terry Gilliam: “I’m figuring it out as I go. I’m dancing on top of the avalanche a little bit. It’s a balance of remembering what inspires you about [the original films]. But you can probably go to the wrong place by feeling too responsible to it. You have to keep your head loose enough to tell a story you actually care about.”
