Apex Legends Servers Down, Pray For Apex Legends

A victim of its own success.

Apex Legends Servers down

As has been the case with a lot of launches in our current lockdown alternate reality, Apex Legends: Legacy hasn’t got off to a good start. From technical issues including disappearing Legends and everything else to the servers just being outright broken, the new season’s second day has also been beset by issues with the servers down at this time of writing.

It’s perhaps one of the worst launches since Outriders, which, actually wasn’t that long ago at all. When players can connect to a game of Apex, they’re encountering technical issues aplenty, but Respawn are hard at work on fixing things.

From the wording of this tweet and the fact that the problems seem to be ongoing, it’s going to be a little while until Apex Legends gets back into the shape it should. You might want to go and play Returnal or something else for now.

Why Are The Servers Down?

Apex’s issues are probably a mixture of work from home and the fact that it’s currently in one of its most popular spots ever.

On Steam alone, nearly 300,000 players are trying to play the game, which doesn’t even include console. You’d imagine there are close to a million people worldwide currently trying to get on Apex, and the servers just probably aren’t able to bear the weight.

So, the next time someone tries to tell you Apex is a dead game, refer them to the time it literally collapsed under the weight of its own popularity.

Apex Legends is available now for PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch.
