Another Body Snatchers Movie Is Coming

Deadline  is reporting that a new Invasion of the Body Snatchers  movie is in the works. No mention of a director yet since the movie is in the scripting stage, but producer John Davis and screenwriter David Leslie Johnson are attached as of now. Johnson got his start with the 2009 horror feature Orphan. He’s also written the two Conjuring  sequels. Besides the Body Snatchers flick, he’s also attached to write the reboot-of-a-reboot Nightmare on Elm Streemovie.

Anyway, yeah, film journalists, can we stop calling this movie a remake or a reboot? Pretty much all of the four Body Snatchers films have gone back to Jack Finney’s original novel as the source material. It’s another adaptation, sure, but not a remake.

So what’s your favorite Body Snatchers movie? I have a soft spot for the 1993 version. With a screenplay by Re-Animator  director Stuart Gordon and direction from Abel Ferrara (The Driller KillerBad Lieutenant), it’s a sadly neglected weirdo ride. The third version of the film, it takes place on a military base, which makes a lot of sense, considering the material. Also, a six-year-old kid get thrown from a helicopter, so there’s that.
