Just like the more common Violin Beetle, the Rosalia Batesi Beetle in Animal Crossing: New Horizons will only spawn on top of tree stumps, which means that you will have to chop down some trees with an axe.

We recommend just chopping down a couple right next to each other, which will increase their spawn rate. They spawn throughout the day, so you will probably have loads of chances to collect one.

As always, you will need at least a flimsy net to catch the Rosalia Batesi Beetle. If you’re having trouble finding one, don’t forget to run around off-screen and then back to a tree stump as this will make a spawn more likely.

Once you’ve caught a Rosalia Batesi Beetle in New Horizons, don’t forget to turn it into Blathers at the museum to add it to his collection.

Here’s what Blathers has to tell you about the Rosalia Batesi Beetle:

“The rosalia batesi beetle is a type of longhorn beetle, so named for the long antenna upon its head. But did you know that longhorn beetles often grow antenna LONGER than their very own bodies, wot wot? As if this weren’t odious enough, look closely and you will find these antenna…are covered in tufts of hair! Best not look closely, I say.”

When you catch your second Rosalia Batesi Beetle, you can then sell it to Nook’s Cranny for 3000 Bells, making it one of the most valuable bugs in the game.

You can also hold onto it until Flick arrives on your island, who will then buy it for 20% more than usual for a price of 3600 Bells. You can also give him three of them and he will give you a Rosalia Batesi Beetle model in return.

When Are Rosalia Batesi Beetles Available Until?

As with most of the critters added during the May update, the Rosalia Batesi Beetle will be available to catch for a good few months just yet.

The Rosalia Batesi Beetle will spawn from the start of May until the end of September. Don’t panic if you don’t find it immediately, you will have plenty of opportunities to catch the bug.
