All New Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Fighters To Receive Their Own Amiibo

Ridley Super Smash Bros Ultimate

Nintendo really are not holding back when it comes to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, because their latest Direct presentation confirmed that every single new fighter featured in the game will receive their own Amiibo, alongside multiple new Amiibos being released for returning fighters. Several of the figures will be available at launch, with the rest set to arrive a bit later on.

Firstly, Amiibos for Wolf, Inkling, and Ridley, the fearsome antagonist from the Metroid franchise, will hit stores on December 7, the same day as the game’s worldwide release. Then, on February 15, we can look forward to the figures of King K. Rool and the Ice Climbers, with Young Link, Daisy, Pichu and Isabelle also set to receive figures throughout next year. We’ve known for some time that Richter and Simon Belmont will be playable, although there’s no word on when their Amiibos will arrive.

Today’s Nintendo Direct revealed that Ken from Street Fighter, the Pokémon known as Incineroar, and the Piranha Plant will also be joining the roster in Ultimate, adding to the game’s already eclectic mix of playable fighters. Although we haven’t seen it yet, the Piranha Plant Amiibo is said to have a ‘nice curved form’, which certainly has us intrigued.

Nintendo also confirmed that over fifty million Amiibos have been sold to date, and that number is bound to increase drastically when Ultimate releases in December. Lastly, they also revealed that new content will be added to the game via paid DLC, meaning there could still be hope for Waluigi to be included as a playable character.
