Aliens: Fireteam Elite: Where Is Text and Voice Chat?

Comms are down.

Aliens: Fireteam Elite is a lower budget Alien adaptation that attempts to appeal to fans of World War Z and other squad-based PVE shooters, which usually require players to communicate with each other.

However, oddly enough, Aliens: Fireteam Elite doesn’t have support for either text or voice chat in-game at the time of launch, which is a pretty glaring oversight.

While players on consoles can of course join their respective parties and those on PC can use something like Discord, there’s no easy way for players who are randomly paired together to talk to each other using the game’s queueing system while in a lobby.

It’s very odd, but it likely comes down to budget, which is also probably why the game only has partial cross-play support. That said, the game has quite a lot of emotes, all of which require a good amount of work (and budget) to animate, so who really knows what’s going on.

Hopefully, Aliens: Fireteam Elite sells well or at least has decent community support so that these basic features can be added down the road. Regardless, it’s very disappointing that you can’t scream at randoms that they’re coming out of the goddamn walls when you face your fiftieth swarm in one level.

Aliens: Fireteam Elite is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X | S.
