Activision Seems To Be Working On A Mobile Version Of Warzone

Another addition to the Call of Duty mobile library.

It would appear that Activision are putting together another team to create a mobile version of their battle royale, Call of Duty: Warzone. A now-removed job listing, which has been captured by Charlie Intel, has revealed that Activision are looking for an executive producer who’d oversee the game’s transition to mobile devices.

The job listing appears to refer to Warzone Mobile as WZM, and it’ll be a new FPS in the Call of Duty franchise. As part of the role, they’ll be in charage of “product framing and player experience of a new AAA mobile FPS in the Call of Duty franchise”. The role’s responsibilities will also revolve around the ability to “harvest, adapt and deliver the essential features from Warzone console and PC into their best mobile instantiation.”

Further down in the listing, the Executive Producer will also be in charge of implementing the modes and features that’ll be necessary for a mobile port of Warzone, while implementing new, mobile specific features. The listing states that the person will “improve upon the Warzone formula by proposing and producing mobile-specific additions and changes to features to ensure a best-in-class mobile experience that players will love.”

What’s interesting is that Call of Duty: Mobile already features its own Battle Royale experience, and the fact that this mobile port of Warzone would offer exclusive features for mobile suggests it wouldn’t support cross-play in the same way Fortnite does. Or did, anyway, if you’re an Apple owner. It seems strange that Activision would devote resources to this venture when it seems so unnecessary, but we’ll find out the answers to that if and when Activision announce this project.
