A Plague Tale: Requiem: How To Upgrade Skills

To pay the bills.

A Plague Tale: Requiem

A Plague Tale: Requiem continues Amicia’s journey to protect her little brother Hugo from a variety of threats and enemies that would seek to harm the pair of them. In order to be the best protector that you can be, you’ll need to make sure your skills are in tip top shape, but upgrading your skills in A Plague Tale: Requiem isn’t quite so simple.

Here’s everything you need to know about upgrading your skills in A Plague Tale: Requiem.

Upgrading skills in A Plague Tale: Requiem is similar to how you’d upgrade skills in Skyrim or other RPGs of that nature. There are three skill paths that can be upgraded in A Plague Tale: Requiem: Prudence, Aggressive and Opportunism. Prudence is all about remaining unseen by the enemy, while Aggressive is the complete opposite. Finally, Opportunism is about using resources and your alchemy ammo to outwit your opponents.

A Plague Tale: Requiem is a bit vague when it comes to skill unlocks, but essentially it boils down to “the more you do something, the better you’ll be”. For instance, if you’d rather use stealth, remain unseen and not murder everyone in your path, Prudence will probably be your first completed skill path. Meanwhile, if you’re a “leave no witnesses” player, Aggressive will be your first completed skill path instead.

Here are the different skills in A Plague Tale: Requiem, listed in the order you’d unlock them from their respective skill path.

Prudence Skills

Light Footstep – Amicia makes less noise when moving, and so is less noticeable by enemies nearby.
Nimbleness – Thanks to a better sense of balance, Amicia moves faster when crouching.
Throwing Stance – Amicia improves her body positioning to throw items farther.
Armour Piercer – Amicia can backstab armoured enemies with a knife as she can now spot their weak points.

Aggressive Skills

Grappler – Being conscious of her surroundings, Amicia can push enemies into fire or rats when she attacks in melee, killing enemies instantly.
Recovery – Keeping her calm when she is attacked, Amicia recovers faster from blows.
Vital Points – Knowing their vital points, Amicia strangles enemies with her sling faster and more quietly.
Quick Fingers – Being more dexterous, Amicia reloads and uses her weapons much faster.

Opportunism

Alchemy Knowledge – Thanks to a better knowledge of alchemy, Amicia crafts alchemical ammo (Ignifier, Exstinguis, Tar, Odoris) faster.
Nothing Lost – Optimising her alchemical craft, Amicia has a chance to save one resource she uses when she crafts alchemical ammo.
Material Division – Being more meticulous, Amicia obtains pieces when she crafts alchemical ammo.
Pure Product – Perfecting her art, Amicia crafts one more alchemical ammo with the same resources.

A Plague Tale: Requiem is available on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X & S.
