It’s early January and we already have a contender for what could be the most interesting new show of 2019. Netflix’s Kingdom is a Korean zombie series set in the country’s Joseon period and looks like scratching a lot of different itches at once.
Directed by Kim Seong-hun, Kingdom follows a crown prince who is sent to investigate a plague that’s making people eat each other. From the trailer we can see fast zombies, swords, and a release date of January 25th that cannot come soon enough.
“In a kingdom defeated by corruption and famine, a mysterious rumor of the king’s death spreads, as does a strange plague that renders the infected immune to death and hungry for flesh. The crown prince, fallen victim to a conspiracy, sets out on a journey to unveil the evil scheme and save his people.”
Here are a few screens, too:

The first season will have six episodes. Netflix clearly have a lot of faith in it as they’ve already ordered a second season.
