Fortnite’s v5.20 Update Brings Double Barrel Shotgun, C4 Nerf, Steady Storm LTM

Fortnite Steady Storm

Downtime has begun for Fortnite’s v5.20 update, which will bring a new weapon, a new LTM, and a host of changes to the gameplay experience. Here’s hoping the changes actually stick this time out instead of being deployed late.

The Double Barrel Shotgun is a, erm, shotgun that will cause huge damage at close range but significantly less from distance. It will take two seconds to swap from it to another shotgun, so didn’t even think about trying to double pump the thing. The Double Barrel Shotgun will be available in Epic and Legendary variants.

A new LTM, Steady Storm, will also be introduced. It will feature a constantly moving storm that will push you towards the center, hopefully creating more action. It’s unclear just how different it will play compared to Blitz: another LTM with a focus on more intense matches, but the storm will tick for ten damage from the off. Your stats will be updated for Steady Storm.

Elsewhere, Vending Machines, which were barely ever useful, have been made more common as well as costing fewer materials to use. Legendary variants now have an 8% chance of spawning and will now just cost 375 materials, making them far more apt for the mid-to-late game.

Something worth celebrating by builders everywhere is the nerf to C4, which will now only allow you to have six at most and only be available in stacks of three. C4 will still be as destructive for builds, though it not being so widely available will no doubt calm some of the spamming.

Most importantly, however, you will now be able to honk in your ATK. For all of the patch notes for v5.20, be sure to check out Epic’s offical update. If you’re just starting out in Fortnite, be sure to check out our beginner’s tips.
