Hot off the heels of a Champions League victory against Loris Karius and ten professional football players, Cristiano Ronaldo has more good news: he will be the cover star for FIFA 19 with the game set to be properly revealed later today at the EA Play event.
The Portugese mega-star first adorned the cover of a FIFA game for FIFA 18 last year, so it should be no surprise to see him return again. Whoever eventually takes over for him will have some mighty big shoes to fill. I’m putting my money on Oumar Niasse.
EA will focus more on FIFA 19 at EA Play today with the show set to kick off (heh) at 11 AM PT / 2 PM ET / 7 PM BST / 6 PM GMT (June 10 at 4 AM for AET). It will be interesting to see what EA do to make FIFA 19 stand out from FIFA 18, being that it 18 barely moved forward from 17.
It will be equally interesting to see how they approach Ultimate Team this year with many rallying against gambling mechanics in video games after the Battlefront 2 fallout. It’s hard to imagine a FIFA game without FUT at this point, so we’ll just have to wait and see.
