If you were worried that the 2009 CGI movie had permanently destroyed any hopes for the future of the Astro Boy franchise, don’t worry, because it seems like there is still hope for media adaptations of Osamu Tezuka’s bestselling sci-fi manga.
Astro Boy: Edge of Time is a card-based action game set in the world of the series. It appears that the titular young android will only show up as a supporting character, so be prepared to meet some weird and wonderful new players.
The game will feature both single and multiplayer modes, including a rich story-driven experience. Developer Project Atom has taken to Kickstarter to raise $50,000 to get it made, so if it sounds like something you’d want to play, then drop them some change.
