Of Monsters and Men to Cameo in New Game of Thrones

You just have to imagine that a lot of indie bands are sending in tapes of themselves singing the Rains of Castamere to Game of Thrones producers in the hopes of landing a cameo. The newest act to be a segue between the boobs is Of Monsters and Men, also known as the really loud one with all the horns.

Previous bands featured in Game of Thrones include Mastodon, Snow Patrol and, most memorably of all, Sigur Ros. The Icelandic post-rock maestros’ distinctive sound made one of the most memorable moments in the series just that much more unforgettable. If you don’t know what I’m referring to, you’re seriously missing out.

A report from fansite Watchers On the Wall confirmed Of Monsters and Men’s role in the show:

“Photos snapped of filming in Girona, Spain this week captured a few members of the Icelandic indie act Of Monsters and Men filming inside the Sant Pere de Galligants monastery. Earlier this year, talking to Interview magazine, [singer and guitarist Nanna Bryndís Hilmarsdóttir] discussed the band’s love of fantasy and particularly GoT, announcing, “Yeah, oh my god, we love it. We’re all obsessed with Game of Thrones.”

Just like Sigur Ros, Of Monsters and Men are also from Iceland but have a far chirpier sound that’s often labelled as indie folk. You’ve probably heard their popular song, ‘Little Talks’, in every television advert ever and might have picked up their album, ‘Beneath the Skin’, which was released this June.

It’s not clear how they will fit into the series as of yet. I would place a small bet on them following Littlefinger around for the season and honking their trumpets whenever his accent starts to waver. They’re going to be busy.
