It’s often said that money makes the world go round, and that’s certainly true in Like A Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name. Not only do you need money to buy new gear and the like, you also need to use money to purchase upgrades for Kiryu, so find a quick way to hop aboard the gravy train is imperative if you’re hoping to become stronger.

One of the more reliable ways of earning money quickly is by entering Gambling Matches in the Coliseum, but if you’re not sure how to unlock and enter those matches, this is the guide for you. Here’s everything you need to know about how to enter the Gambling Matches in Like A Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name.

The Coliseum consists of four ranks: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. As you progress through the ranks, you’ll unlock new fights and new locations within The Castle, but if you complete all of the matches associated with a certain rank, you’ll unlock a special promotional match by speaking to a certain NPC. The Silver Rank match can be unlocked by completing all the Bronze rank matches and talking to the NPC in the Coliseum Lobby, while the Gold Rank match is unlocked by completing the Silver rank matches and speaking to the NPC stood next to the wall in the VIP Lounge.

Once you’ve completed those Promotional Matches, those NPCs will send Kiryu an email about Gambling Matches, which means you need to speak to those characters once again. After doing that, you’ll unlock the Silver and Gold rank Gambling Match, depending on who you have to speak to. Now you can enter those matches and earn a decent amount of money.

How Gambling Matches work are that you wager an amount of money, with the more money you offer, the tougher your opponent is. If you win, you double your amount, and if you lose, you lose all your wagered money. The Silver Gambling Match has a wager limit of 1 million yen, while the Gold Match allows you to wager up to 10 million yen. It’s a tougher fight, but the payday is certainly worth it. Once you’ve completed the match, it’ll be unavailable for a short while, but eventually you’ll receive another email telling you to speak to the NPC again.
