One of the best parts of the Yakuza/Like A Dragon series becoming more popular has been the implementation of English voice-over as an audio option, meaning you don’t have to watch the bottom of the screen like a hawk to understand what’s happening. Unfortunately for those fans, the upcoming Like A Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name will not have an English dub when it launches on PC and consoles this November.
The news was confirmed by voice-actor and content creator Yong Yea, who will be playing the role of Kiryu in Like A Dragon Gaiden and Infinite Wealth, which is set to launch in January 2024. Yong Yea spoke on X (but we still call it Twitter), stating that the English dub will be added to the game in a post-launch patch, but no set release date for that patch has been confirmed yet.

For those of you concerned about the state of the English dub in Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Yong Yea clarifies in a follow-up tweet that while he doesn’t know what he can and can’t say about the game at this time, the English audio option is checkmarked on the game’s Steam listing. This would suggest that the English dub will be available when Infinite Wealth launches, but time will tell in that regard.
Considering that the English voice over option is a relatively new addition to the Yakuza/Like A Dragon series, with Yakuza 0 through to Yakuza 6: The Song Of Life all offering only Japanese voice-overs, it’s likely that the English dub delay won’t cause too many issues. However, if you’re someone who’s grown attached to RGG Studio’s attempts to cater to the English-speaking audience, you might want to hold off on pre-ordering Like A Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name.
