Neodymium (or Nd) is a rare resource found on a select few planets in Starfield that you can use to craft gear and other valuable tech. If you manage to find a few Neodymium ore deposits while journeying on the surface of select planets and moons, then you can use your Cutter to acquire the resource. This will be placed into your inventory automatically after you successfully mine the resource.
You can use your hand scanner while exploring to easily spot them since they will be highlighted. As they don’t appear very often, we suggest taking advantage of every piece of Neodymium you find, as you never know when you will next find them.
To name a few easy-to-reach locations early on in Starfield, you have:
– Mercury (Sol System)
– Hyperia (Narion System)
– Gryphus (Narion System)
If you find a Neodymium deposit on the surface of any of these planets and moons, then you can set up an outpost next to them and place the required extractor on top. This will give you a continuous supply of this valuable resource that will always come in handy on your travels. You can also find this resource at points of interest at these locations via random drops in caves, corpses, storage units, etc.
By far the most effective short-term method to acquire this resource is to bulk buy it from vendors across the system. A few earlier places you can find this resource are Jemison Mercantile, in New Atlantis; Midtown Minerals, in Akila City; and Mining League, in Neon. Stock up on Neodymium from all these vendors if you’re in desperate need.
If you factor in all these different steps during your playtime in Starfield, you’re bound to be rich with Neodymium, which you could sell to make a decent profit.
Starfield is available now on PC and Xbox Series X & S.
