Looks Like FIFA 23 On Switch Will be Another Legacy Edition

UPDATE: EA actually extremely quietly announced that there will be a Legacy Edition on Switch after all. Why bother, though? Especially when they seem almost ashamed to properly announce it?

ORIGINAL STORY: After years of seemingly feeling obligated to put something on the system, it seems that EA are finally giving up on Switch for FIFA.

FIFA 23 has been revealed for all the platforms you would expect, though with it also coming to the Epic Games Store on PC for the first time in the franchise. It’s still coming to Stadia also, even though it’s ostensibly dead by this point with little in the way of support.

However, the Switch isn’t listed anywhere in the platforms for the game, suggesting that Nintendo fans won’t even be getting a Legacy Edition this year. These have essentially been roster updates that have cost £30+ since FIFA 18 each season, leading to plenty of backlash with EA unwilling (or perhaps unable) to make FIFA properly work on Switch. Switch fans have basically been playing the same FIFA game since 2018, just with changed kits and squads.

There’s been no official confirmation from EA that FIFA 23 won’t be coming to Switch in any form, but it doesn’t appear on the eShop and it isn’t listed on the EA website. It looks like IGN can stop using the same review each year, which were almost more worthwhile to read than to actually play FIFA on Switch.

FIFA 23 launches September 30th for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X & S, and Stadia.
