On this week’s explosive episode of AEW Dynamite, Wardlow captured his first AEW Championship by defeating Scorpio Sky for the TNT Championship in the show’s opening match. Fans have been dying to see Wardlow draped in gold since breaking off from his former mentor, MJF, and defeating him at Double or Nothing in emphatic fashion.
Wardlow dominated the match and sent Sky home packing with a devastating powerbomb to end the match and win his first major title. Going forward, I imagine Wardlow will become a staple of AEW programming, having proven himself as a worthy babyface star attraction and potentially even a future contender to the AEW World Championship down the line.
In the past, Wardlow has won the AEW ‘Brass Ring’ as well as being involved in some of the brand’s top feuds, such as the faction war between The Pinnacle and The Inner Circle and MJF’s headlining-breaking rivalry with CM Punk.
Here’s hoping this is just the start of Wardlow’s ascension to the top of the roster. Congrats ‘War Dog’.
