Demon Turf is the latest game from Slime-San developers Fabraz and publisher Playtonic Friends. A 3D platformer, you control the demon Beebz who’s attempting to take on the mighty Demon King for the right to sit on the throne. Of course, you can’t do it alone, as you’ve got some friends to help you along the way, but if you’re looking to meet a couple of familiar faces in the form of Yooka-Laylee while roaming around the Underworld, we’ve got you covered.

Considering the fact that Demon Turf is published by Playtonic Friends, the cameo seems obvious in hindsight, but during the game, you can have a chance encounter with Yooka-Laylee, Playtonic’s own lizard and bat duo. Playtonic are composed of former Rare developers, who made the original Yooka-Laylee with the help of Kickstarter backers. Yooka-Laylee would launch in 2017 to varied reviews, with most finding it to be a retro throwback of a 3D platformer, for better or worse.

How To Find Yooka-Laylee Within Demon Turf

You’ll find Playtonic’s duo within Forktown, which serves as Demon Turf’s main hub area. Forktown is where you go to buy new cosmetics or mods that change your abilities, or where you complete side quests like the platforming trials, the Super Soccer Golf mini-games, the combat arenas or the bonus Arcade levels, which you can find by collecting various cartridges scattered across town. There’s a lot to do here.

The main aim of the game is to collect 50 batteries from the 4 other worlds you can travel to, which then opens the Demon Gate to the final level and boss fight at the Demon Castle, but this is also where Yooka-Laylee is hiding. More specifically, this is what Yooka-Laylee is hiding on top of.

In order to meet the pair, you’re going to have to scale the Demon King’s castle. There are a number of ways you can do this, as the way the platforming works in Demon Turf can allow for multiple solutions. However, you can reach them from the start of the game by wall jumping up to the rampart on the left side of the castle, then following the bounce pads and wooden planks around the side of the castle until you reach the top. Once there, you’ll be able to encounter the pair on the right hand side of the castle, and a pretty funny cutscene will play out.
