Tomb Raider Celebrates 25 Year Anniversary

Lara Croft rings in a quarter-century of adventures.

Square Enix, Eidos Montreal, and Crystal Dynamics are celebrating the milestone of 25 years since the release of the first Tomb Raider with a number of announcements regarding Lara Croft’s enduring legacy.

The Tomb Raider series, which initially launched in 1996, has sold over 85 million copies across its 20 titles, along with multiple movies, comics, toys, and a forthcoming animated series.
 

Tomb Raider Anniversary Details

As part of this celebration, many titles in the Tomb Raider series will be going on sale on digital marketplaces, including Steam, the PlayStation store, the Xbox Games store, Humble Bundle, Green Man Gaming, GOG, and the Square Enix Store, with discounts as high as 89% off, meaning it’s a fine time for curious players who haven’t properly met Lara now have a prime opportunity to dive into the action-adventure trailblazer franchise.

Between November 1st and 14th, Amazon Prime Gaming members can get Rise of the Tomb Raider on PC for free.

Crystal Dynamics and Feral Interactive are also bringing two Tomb Raiders titles to the Nintendo Switch in 2022: Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, and Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris.
These will be the first Tomb Raider games available on the Switch.

 

Tomb Raider Anime Series

Beyond the realm of games, Tomb Raider will also be coming to Netflix through a partnership between the streaming giant, Legendary Entertainment, and Powerhouse Animation, the team that also adapted Castlevania into an anime series. Hayley Atwell (Captain America, Black Mirror) will voice Lara Croft, with Allen Maldonado (Heels, The Wonder Years) playing her comrade Zip, and Earl Baylon will reprise his role from the recent Tomb Raider trilogy as mentor character Jonah Maiava.
