Kings Canyon Won’t Be In Apex Legends: Season 9

Off the throne.

Ever since they started introducing new maps to the game, Respawn don’t want their Apex Legends players to get bored with the same three maps over and over again, and neither do they want one to dominate in terms of popularity. That’s why two maps get rotated in and out each season every two hours with one taking a backseat. In Season 9, Kings Canyon won’t be in the rotation.

First confirmed by Apex Legends News on Twitter, Olympus and World’s Edge will be the two maps in Apex Legends: Season 9 with Kings Canyon sitting the season out.

As Olympus is the much newer map that seems to also have grand ties to the season’s storyline, it makes sense that it would stick around. Meanwhile, World’s Edge wasn’t in the game over the course of Season 8, so it was due a return.

While Kings Canyon is probably the most broadly popular map in Apex (I much prefer it to Olympus, personally), absence does make the heart grow fonder. Not having it around constantly is just smart, helping it to feel fresh the next time it’s in the game.

Will Kings Canyon Return In Apex Legends?

Kings Canyon will almost definitely return to Apex Legends at some point in the future. It was the very first map for Apex and is pretty much forever tied to the game, plus people would just never ever shut up about it if it was to be removed forever.

However, it will be interesting to see what state Kings Canyon does return in down the line. The ol’ gal has been blown up and generally beaten around a lot over the past couple of years, so maybe it will come back looking brand new? They will probably just unleash massive dinosaurs on it again anyway.

Apex Legends is a free FPS game available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, and Switch.
