Ahead of its launch in early May and gameplay reveal later this month, EA and Respawn have unveiled the launch trailer for Apex Legends: Season 9, otherwise known as Legacy. Check it out for yourself in the trailer above.
Featuring Valkyrie, the newest Legend, in action as she rains down fire on her enemies not unlike Overwatch’s Pharah, the first glimpse of the Bocek Bow, and the re-emergence of Ash, it’s one very hectic trailer.
It also seems as if the game will “go beyond battle royale”, if its tagline is anything to go by. What this almost certainly means is the introduction of other modes, like Team Deathmatch, due to the emphasis on arenas and mentions of the Apex Predators.
There’s a whole lot to unpack here, including Wraith once again killing Caustic (do people just not actually die in matches?), Mirage’s terrible singing voice, and Wattson booping Octane to death after her electric fences seem to get some kind of buff. It looks as if World’s Edge will be making a return for the new season, too.
Legacy seems like it may be the biggest change to the game since it launched way back in early 2019, and we can’t wait to see more, especially based on the fact that Valkyrie is the daughter of Viper and the two franchises are colliding more and more. It might not be Titanfall 3, but all this crossover lately is fine with us.
When Does Apex Legends: Legacy Begin?
The new season of Apex Legends begins on May the 4th (be with you), but there will also be a gameplay trailer before then on April 26th that will give us a closer look at Valkyrie, as well as presumably what Ash is brooding about.
Whatever lies in wait, it’s not going to be the same Apex.
