After seemingly nineteen random leaks to do with fast food businesses and controllers, Xbox have finally confirmed the existence of the Xbox Series S, previously known as Lockhart.
As well as a $299/£249.99 price and the fact that it will be the smallest Xbox ever, we’ve also had our first look at the Xbox Series S’ design and, well, the internet has predictably had a bit of a field day with its design.
To be clear, there’s nothing overtly bad about the Series S design — it’s actually kind of sleek. Thing is, the ventilation does kind of dominate the top of it, meaning that many have made comparisons to things like fast food order counters, boomboxes, and, weirdly enough, Plankton.

Does the design of the Series S ring any bells with anyone else?? pic.twitter.com/XxNmqbgj8J

While the internet has been having some fun with the Series S design, it’s definitely nowhere near the level that we had with the Series X’s design reveal. That fridge meme has even become a part of the marketing for the console with Xbox themselves getting in on the act.
Even if the Series S doesn’t immediately strike you as a good looking console, you won’t even notice that black void if you lay it on its side. For me, the only worry is how loud it will be. That’s a lot of power packed into a small thing.
Oh, and it also looks like it won’t have a disc drive, which might be a dealbreaker for me, though I may be able to live with it for that price if I just use the S for my job and not game collecting. How about you?
