Following reports by Windows Central and Brad Sams that seemed to confirm the prices of the Xbox Series X and the Series S, as well as the release date and price for both, Xbox have moved very quickly to announce that the Series S is indeed real. It will also be very affordable at $299.99 and £249.99.
Here’s that announcement tweet, with more information set to come soon.

We may only have to refer to that original report for the info we need, though. Per their sources, the Series X and S will both launch on November 10th, 2020. They will also reportedly be available on finance plans via Xbox All Access: Series X at $25 per month and Series S at $35 per month. The report also seems to confirm that Series X will cost $499.
As for the specs on the Series X, the report suggests it will be roughly twice as powerful as the One X, but it will also be much smaller than it or the Series X. It’s believed that the S won’t be capable of 4K, though it may be better to wait for confirmation on that front. On top of that, it looks like there will be no disc drive for the S, but again that’s something worth waiting for Xbox to confirm.
So, finally, although it’s not been officially confirmed, we have a release date and price for the new line of Xbox consoles. It shouldn’t be up to third-parties to push a publisher into revealing stuff two months from release, but here’s hoping this endless game of chicken ends soon and we also get more information on the PlayStation 5.
Oh, and as for the design of the Series, the internet has some thoughts.
