Apex Legends Coming To Switch And Steam, Full Cross-Play Confirmed

The dropship is about to become more populated.

Apex Legends

During last night’s EA Play event, Respawn Entertainment announced that Apex Legends would be coming to Steam and the Nintendo Switch this autumn, along with an update that’ll add full cross-play across PC (via Steam and Origin), PS4, Xbox One and the Nintendo Switch.

This news comes alongside the announcement that Apex Legends will be receiving a brand new limited time event, Lost Treasures, which will kick off on June 23rd. The event will include an LTM called Armed And Dangerous Evolved, which is shotguns and snipers only, with the only armour being the Evo Armour players will spawn with. The event will also introduce mobile respawn beacons that’ll be added to the regular loot pool once the event is over. Check out the trailer for the event below.

Cross-play across all five platforms is a big step for Apex Legends, and one that should ensure the game’s success for years to come. A steady supply of people to play against is always a good thing, right? That said, I’m curious (and cautious) about how the game will run on the Nintendo Switch. Some obvious downgrades will have to be made, but how will that impact the core gameplay? Will the Switch version still by viable when playing against other platforms? These questions will be answered later this year.
