Here I am. Here you are. Here is the CULTURED VULTURES brand spanking new SINGLE OF THE WEEK, courtesy of the fantastic Slow Club, and it be called ‘Everything is New’. Though, I will warn you right now, as great a song as ‘Everything is New’ is and how you should definitely watch the video for it below my rambling meanderings, DO NOT WATCH IF YOU ARE HUNGRY. I made that mistake, so much chewing, so much food, so many different eateries. SLOW CLUB I AM TRYING TO LOSE WEIGHT.
I sometimes exclaim in upper case. Anyhoo, for those what don’t know, Slow Club are a duo formed out of Sheffield way back when in the wilds of 2006. They are Charles Watson and Rebecca Taylor, both of whom are those magical creatures known as multi-instrumentalists, with Watson bringing the brunt of piano, Taylor drudging up drums like it’s nobody’s business, and both playing guitar and providing vocals.
The pair have been steadily building themselves from the ground through a string of singles, some EPs, and this summer saw them release their third album Complete Surrender. An album that has seen them earn some solid acclaim, and only made the buzz swarming around the band grow noisier with a far greater likely hood to sting, as it has showed the band evolve into truly soulful purveyors of a bombastic grandeur by way of alternative folk.
So, get your ears full of ‘Everything is New’, and then follow that up with the awesome Complete Surrender. Do it. NOW.
