PlayMagic, the developers of Ubisoft’s upcoming XIII remake, have announced that they will be opening up a brand new studio in the Ukraine. The Kyiv-based studio is designed to expand the developmental capabilities of their Malta-based studio, and will serve as a “work for hire arm of the group” while the Malta Studio moves onto original title development.
Giuseppe Crugliano, PlayMagic group’s CEO & Creative Director, stated the following: “I am very excited about the opening of our second studio in a region with such an incredible pool of talent. We have always believed in the diversification of our business strategy and a company like PlayMagic needs to continue operating in the work for hire segment but at the same time moving significant resources on to the development of original titles that can be both license based or on PlayMagic’s original IPs”.
Currently, PlayMagic are working on the Ubisoft remake of the cult shooter XIII, scheduled to launch this year on PS4, Xbox One, PC and the Nintendo Switch. The press release also confirms that PlayMagic are hard at work on “another unannounced licensed remaster”. Leave your best guesses on what they’re working on in the comments below.
