It’s been no secret that Xbox have been incredibly supportive of the PC gaming community, with Xbox Play Anywhere and games like Halo: The Master Chief Collection heading to PC soon. Now, Xbox are ramping things up, as they’ve announced they will be launching Xbox Game Pass for PC, with more details set for E3 2019.
In a new post over on Xbox Wire, Head of Xbox Phil Spencer detailed three new ways that Xbox intend on supporting PC gaming, with the headlining attraction being Xbox Game Pass for PC. In the post itself, Phil Spencer said:
Xbox Game Pass for PC will give players unlimited access to a curated library of over 100 high-quality PC games on Windows 10, from well-known PC game developers and publishers such as Bethesda, Deep Silver, Devolver Digital, Paradox Interactive, SEGA, and more. And just as we committed on the console, it is our intent to include new games from Xbox Game Studios in Xbox Game Pass for PC the same day as their global release, including titles from newly acquired studios like Obsidian and inXile.
On top of that, Xbox games will be able to buy Xbox Game Studios titles through the Windows Store and via other storefronts. Steam is specifically mentioned, but the post also mentions the possibility of additional storefronts. Xbox also intend for these titles to support voice chat, text chat, LFG and cross-play across PC and console. Lastly, Xbox are enabled full native Win32 support on the Microsoft Store, allowing for more options for players and developers alike.
