4 Ways To Book Seth Rollins vs HHH At WrestleMania 33

Triple H Seth Rollins

Despite the recent re-injury of his knee, Seth Rollins will finally get his hands on his former mentor Triple H in an Unsanctioned Match at WrestleMania 33.

With the unsanctioned stipulation in place, we can expect a hard hitting affair with plenty of stiff strikes, more than a few weapons and Seth Rollins taking flight. But what can we expect as the finish? How will the story of these two men be told in the squared circle? Let’s run through a few possibilities:

Redemption

Seth Freakin' Rollins

The ideal situation for most fans would see Seth finally take vengeance against Triple H and claim victory on the Grandest Stage of Them All. This outcome could see Seth outsmart Triple H and the WWE Universe at large by exaggerating how injured his knee really is.

Seth could make his WrestleMania entrance on crutches, limping down to the ring equipped with a knee brace. Hunter could then come out gloating; his prey is wounded, all that remains is to finish the job. Seth then smirks, rips off the brace and then proceeds to batter The King of Kings up and down the ring with a crutch. It would really sell the whole idea of the Architect character. He’s, to borrow a phrase, a man with a plan.

For the added touch, Seth wins with a Pedigree, both to prove that the knee is fine and also as a way of sticking it to Triple H.

Triple H didn’t earn the Cerebral Assassin moniker for nothing. He finds weakness and exploits it without remorse. Seth’s knee might as well have a bullseye painted on it at this point, and a key point of the match will be the question of whether or not his knee can survive the brutal onslaught. After multiple chair shots to the leg, Seth could finally begin to get the upper hand on Hunter. He attempts the Phoenix Splash, only to end up crash landing on that weak knee. Hunter then executes the Pedigree for the win. The story here is the courage of Rollins, and the despicable nature of Triple H. Both men knew Seth wasn’t 100%, yet they both agreed to fight. It then sets up a rematch in the summer with an uninjured Seth looking to finally prove who the better man is.

Big in Japan

Shinsuke Nakamura NXT 2017

The beauty of an Unsanctioned match is that there are no disqualifications or count outs, and anyone can interfere without repercussions. Samoa Joe currently has no dance partner at the Show of Shows, so why wouldn’t he interject himself into this match to help out Triple H? Things begin to look bleak for the injured Architect, as a two on one beatdown shows no signs of stopping, until some familiar violins begin to play.

Enter Shinsuke Nakamura. The King of Strong Style makes his presence felt at the Showcase of the Immortals, picking up the feud between himself and Samoa Joe from NXT. Nakamura could effectively neutralise Joe, leaving Rollins to fight Triple H. It could also set up a huge main event for RAW the next day: Shinsuke Nakamura & Rollins vs Samoa Joe and Triple H. That’ll put butts in seats.

A Demonic Return

Finn Balor

One of the main reasons Triple H and Seth Rollins are feuding is Seth being injured at the hands of Samoa Joe, under Hunter’s orders. But anyone has cause for grievance over an injury, it’d be Finn Balor. In the biggest match of his career, Finn defeated Rollins at Summerslam 2016 to become the first WWE Universal Champion. He then relinquished the belt 24 hours later on account of a botched barricade powerbomb separating his shoulder.

So if Seth is mad at Hunter for his injury, shouldn’t it stand to reason that Finn grew to detest Seth for putting him out of action? Perhaps to the point that he would consider aiding and maybe even aligning with Triple H going forward? Just when Seth is close to victory, the Demon King appears from nowhere and blasts Seth with a chair before hitting a Coup de Grâce for the finish. Both Hunter and Finn stand over a beaten and broken Rollins whilst the crowd in Orlando try to figure out what just happened.

There’s serious potential in a stable of top NXT guys led by Triple H running roughshod over the main roster. Guys like Finn, Joe and Kevin Owens. Go the whole way, call them Takeover. It has a snowball’s chance in hell of happening, but imagine if it did?
