2020 Continues Nonsense, Game Gear Micro On Its Way

Sure, why not?

Game Gear Micro

In celebration of SEGA’s 60th anniversary, the company have announced that they’ll be releasing the Game Gear Micro in Japan later this year, which is certainly an announcement that few people, if any, saw coming. Check out the reveal tweet below.

With a release date of October 6th in Japan, though there’s no word of a Western release, the Game Gear Micro will launch with four colour variants, and each colour has four distinctive games. The default black Game Gear Micro will include Sonic The Hedgehog, Puyo Puyotsu, Outrun and Royal Stone (which is called Crystal Warriors in the West), while the yellow version contains three Shining Force games and Nazo Puyo: Arle no Roux. The red edition features two Megami Tensei titles, along with GG Shinobi and Columns, while finally, the blue version holds Sonic and Tails,Baku Baku Animal, Sylvan Tail and the Game Gear port of Gunstar Heroes.

It’s a bit of a silly device, with a screen that’s only an inch wide for some reason. There’s going to be a magnifier accessory available when the Game Gear Micro launches, which basically confirms the screen is a bit too small already. That said, it looks like a curious little device, so naturally we’ll take 12.
